Concrete sand is the precision layer between base and stone.

In the Build It Right.™ system, Standard Washed Concrete Sand plays a critical role in the Base stage, providing a level, compactable bedding layer that locks your Surface material into place.

This is clean, washed sand with consistent particle sizing, designed to drain properly while allowing accurate grading and stone placement. It helps create a smooth, stable surface before your patio stone, pavers, or slabs go down.

Get this layer right, and the install feels intentional from day one.

Q: Can these materials be used for patios and walkways?
A: Absolutely. Concrete sand and ¾” washed gravel provide a stable, well-draining base for both patios and paths.

Q: How much base material do I need?
A: For patios, a 3–4” compacted layer of gravel is ideal. For pathways, 2–3” is usually sufficient.

Q: Can I mix sand and gravel for decorative purposes?
A: Yes. Blending sizes or colors can improve drainage, texture, and aesthetics in garden beds and pathways.

Q: Are these materials durable in freeze-thaw climates?
A: Yes. All materials are selected for durability and consistency across the Mountain West.
