Better Than Natural Stone?

Hooked on the Rockies

Sometimes one visit is all it takes. At least it was for Chris. Born and raised in New York, Chris can cuss at cabbies with the best of them, but several years ago something changed. A chance visit to Utah gave him a good look at the backside of the Rocky Mountains, and he was hooked.

As luck would have it, a 30-acre parcel of land in Hobble Creek Canyon, Utah became available about the time Chris had his epiphany. The original plan was to use the property and the little log cabin that came with it as a second summer home. But things changed. Raising their family outside of New York had a lot of appeal, and despite the charm of the 1880s little cabin, the family needed a much larger functional cabin where the family would live year round.

Log Cabin Look

Of course, log cabins have a very specific look and appeal. Part of that look is to incorporate river rock into construction. With modern building techniques, Chris knew natural river rock would impact three things.

● Time

● Budget

● Ease

He looked for an alternative and found it at American Stone. The team at American directed Chris to a manufactured stone veneer solution from Provia. The Mountain River Rock pattern provided Chris with exactly the look and feel he was after.

Provia to The Rescue

Provia manufactures their stone to exacting standards that make it easier than competitors to install with less waste and few repeating patterns.

Chris said, “the Provia weighs half of real stone.” For him that translated into a much easier installation. In fact, the installation on the foundation of his new home only took about a week.

Now as Chris and the family get ready to settle into their new home, they look forward to gazing out the windows at mountains and pine trees — instead of skyscrapers and taxi cabs. American Stone is thrilled to help make this mountain retreat a reality. All we have to say is, welcome to Utah, Chris.
