A/R 504 Updating customer card in Odoo with tax exemption


  1. Accessing Customer Information:
    • Begin by accessing the customer card, found under Sales > Customer
  2. Locating the Customer:
    • Search for the customer's name, such as "Woodstuff Landscaping Supplies," within the customer database.
  3. Editing Customer Details:
    • Select the customer's profile and click on the "Edit" option.
  4. Navigating to Tax Exemption Section:
    • Scroll down to locate the section related to tax exemptions within the customer's profile.
  5. Reviewing Existing Exemption (if applicable):
    • If there's an existing exemption, review the details for accuracy.
  6. Adding a New Exemption:
    • Add a new item to correct or update the exemption information.
  7. Entering Customer Details:
    • Enter the customer's business name, authorized signature (e.g., "Debbie Hopes"), and today's date.
  8. Entering Exemption Details:
    • Check the appropriate box indicating the type of exemption, such as "Resale or Release."
    • Enter the corresponding tax exemption number.
  9. Ensuring Data Consistency:
    • Ensure that the tax exemption number matches the authorized signature.
  10. Activating Tax Exemption:
    • Make sure the "Tax Exempt" button is checked to activate the exemption status.
  11. Submitting and Approving:
    • Scroll to the bottom and click "Submit" to save the changes.
    • After submission, approve the update by clicking the "Approve" button.
  12. Saving and Closing:
    • Click on "Save and Close" to finalize the changes.
    • Ensure to click "Save" again to confirm all steps have been completed.
  13. Verification:

    • Access the accounts receivable tasks under projects.

    • Include the customer's name, relevant information, and dates of the update for future reference.
  16. Completing the Process:
    • Ensure that updating tax exemptions is consistently documented and incorporated into the standard process for handling customer accounts.
