A/R 504 Updating customer card in Odoo with tax exemption
- Accessing Customer Information:
- Begin by accessing the customer card, found under Sales > Customer
- Locating the Customer:
- Search for the customer's name, such as "Woodstuff Landscaping Supplies," within the customer database.
- Editing Customer Details:
- Select the customer's profile and click on the "Edit" option.
- Navigating to Tax Exemption Section:
- Scroll down to locate the section related to tax exemptions within the customer's profile.
- Reviewing Existing Exemption (if applicable):
- If there's an existing exemption, review the details for accuracy.
- Adding a New Exemption:
- Add a new item to correct or update the exemption information.
- Entering Customer Details:
- Enter the customer's business name, authorized signature (e.g., "Debbie Hopes"), and today's date.
- Entering Exemption Details:
- Check the appropriate box indicating the type of exemption, such as "Resale or Release."
- Enter the corresponding tax exemption number.
- Ensuring Data Consistency:
- Ensure that the tax exemption number matches the authorized signature.
- Activating Tax Exemption:
- Make sure the "Tax Exempt" button is checked to activate the exemption status.
- Submitting and Approving:
- Scroll to the bottom and click "Submit" to save the changes.
- After submission, approve the update by clicking the "Approve" button.
- Saving and Closing:
- Click on "Save and Close" to finalize the changes.
- Ensure to click "Save" again to confirm all steps have been completed.
- Verification:
- Verify that the changes have been successfully applied by checking the customer's profile.
- Checking Tax Exemption Status:
- Navigate to the sales or purchases section and locate the tax exemption checkbox.
- Confirm that the checkbox is ticked, indicating the customer's tax-exempt status.
- Documenting the Update:
- Access the accounts receivable tasks under projects.
- If applicable, locate the "Tax Exemptions" task and edit it to document the update.
- Include the customer's name, relevant information, and dates of the update for future reference.
- Completing the Process:
- Ensure that updating tax exemptions is consistently documented and incorporated into the standard process for handling customer accounts.
